Melissa Gonzalez Lopez

Melissa Gonzalez-Lopez (b.1999) is an interdisciplinary Cuban artist living and working in Tallahassee, Florida. On April 2021 she completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Florida State University. During her undergraduate experience she studied abroad at the Universitat Politècnica de València, in Spain. In her senior year and post-graduation she has worked alongside Professor of Art Holly Hanessian in the creation of a Hurricane Emergency Art Kit.

Her art practice spins around the overall themes of time, memory, and sense of place. She employs a variety of mediums, such as, painting, printmaking, photography, ceramics and video installation, to realize her ideas into the world. Besides making art, Melissa enjoys reading about neuroscience, astrophysics and mathematics.
